While you are busy letting us know your Black Friday plans for this year over in our Question of the Day, do feel free to cheat off the paper of the 1,000 or so folks Consumer Reports called up and grilled on their own personal plans for post-holiday mayhem. How will Giz readers stack up? CR found that, unsurprisingly, the number of folks hitting the stores is higher this year despite the economy's current position in the proverbial shitter26% versus 21% in 2007. And of that 26%, electronics remain the main target, although much more so this year than last, with 85% heading to the gadget aisles over 70% previously. What's hot with CR's poll respondents? Gaming systems (those Xbox 360 price cuts seem like they're working out pretty well), which 46% of BF shoppers have their eye on first (compared to a much-lower 29% last year. iPods and other MP3 players come in a close second at 44% of folks planning on buying, up from 33%. galleryPost('crblackfriday', 3, ''); Still, I must throw in my two cents here: if you're able to wake up at the crack of dawn to stand in the cold waiting for some electronics deals with hundreds of other bleary-eyed souls, you're simply not doing Thanksgiving with the gluttony and excess it deserves. So save the shopping for later in the day at the computer, in your underpants, with a nice hot mug of the previous night's mulled wine helping you start the day (er, afternoon). That, friends, is a post-Thanksgiving Friday well-spent. [Consumer Reports]

To combat the economic crisis, many tech-retailers will have added incentive this year to offer deep discounts on their Black Friday merchandise. And, since most of us will probably be sticking to a strict budget, we have added incentive to fight the long lines to try and score a deal. Still, the thought of getting anywhere near a store on November 28th is daunting. So, my question is: are you one of the brave souls that plans to gadget shop on Black Friday? Do You Plan to Gadget Shop on Black Friday? ( polls) Results from "Do You Prefer Interacting With People or Machines?" People 21% Machines 40% Machines, but I prefer talking to people on the phone. 36% Other 3%

Filed under: Gaming The phones at Engadget HQ have been ringing off the hook with reports that the incredible Sam's Club Black Friday Wii deal spied the other day was, in fact, not all that it seemed. Apparently, due to a Photoshop disaster or related incident, someone swapped out the actual deal price ($425) for an amazingly low $224. We'd say this was a closed case, save for the fact that the page carrying the updated "correct" information is now down, and all we have left is a paltry Google cache link. If anyone out there in magical, mystical Internetville knows more, feel free to drop us a line.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]Sam's Club Black Friday Wii deal too good to be true? originally appeared on Engadget on Sat, 15 Nov 2008 17:41:00 EST. Well what do we have here? It appears that OfficeMax's Black Friday deals have leaked before Black Friday. How surprising! In a year of pretty big Black Friday disappointments, we'd give Office Max a B- on the curve because, as usual, they have a plethora of smaller tempting items. SanDisk 4GB Cruzer Micro USB Readyboost - $9.99 SanDisk Cruzer Micro 16GB Jump Drive - $39.99 Epson PowerLite S5 3LCD SVGA Projector - $399.99 HP Photosmart C4480 3 In 1 Printer - $49.99 Samsung CLP315 Laser Printer - $99.99 Simpletech 640 GB Mini Hard Drive - $89.99 Dragon Naturally Speaking - $39.99 Microsoft Home and Student Edition 2007 - $69.99 They definitely have some deals that beat online pricing on smaller electronics, but probably nothing worth standing in line all night for...though that Epson projector is about $200 off and Office offers a savings of $50 or so. I guess if you were to buy everything on this list, it might be worthwhile. [Black Friday]
