Cambridge, England-based technology VC deals tracker Library House, which went in to receivership last month after the venture sector itself dried up, is selling its database to Dow Jones's VentureSource, a larger, similar service. Administrator Leonard Curtis made the sale on December 23, DJ said on Tuesday. Library House's data, which focuses on Europe, will be combined with the DJ service, which covers multiple sectors and includes US, Canada, India, Israel and China. Library House customers will be migrated to VentureSource. Library House hit harder times with bitter irony last year, as the very venture capitalists whose deals it thrives on for new data began to sit on their money through the downturn. The firm let go 12 of its 30 staff earlier in the year; five staff left by mutual consent in November to spin out Library House's research business in to another company for themselves, also based in Cambridge. The firm had hoped to sell off assets but it's now mainly the events side of the company that's left, including its Mediatech event. Others operating in a similar space include StrategyEye, which has a bigger focus on news than numbers. Release.
